Model to assist new finance director in managing cashflows of a SAAS startup business.
Requirement
The client required a monthly cashflow model to manage expected flows during the initial years of trading. As a SAAS start-up business there were a number of commercial and operational risks which the business was navigating.
The model was required to monitor and forecast cash burn in order to build a plan and monitor the business against that and also to forecast future results in order to support raising of additional capital from investors.
Solution
The model was a simple but flexible and therefore powerful cashflow monitoring tool - it scaled by individual product line and 3x potential customer architypes (small / med / large) included differential assumptions on churn, customer referrals, upsell, downgrades and blue sky wins by customer type.
A scenario manager was included to allow comparison of potential business performance depending on timing of funding / potential operational and management approaches to expansion.
